I’m just 1 person who didn’t read as much as I had hoped in April. I tried the BookCrossing all-day readathon. In past years, I’ve been able to get through four or five books during that readathon, but this year there were also virtual BookCrossing Unconvention events all day, so I didn’t get much reading done. I did host a reading hour event where we all read in silent companionship on Zoom (muted), and I finished a book because of that.
The unconvention itself was fantastic, though, and well worth the low book count. I loved seeing so many BookCrossers from 23 different countries all come together. I got to see BookCrosser friends I haven’t seen in person in many years. And sharing our love of books together was just the best. From author talks to trivia to events hosted by regional groups to a tour of the supply store, it was a marvelous unconvention. BookCrossing’s CEO also was able to join us for an update on the state of the website.

My favorite book this month was probably Britt-Marie Was Here (though The Cruel Prince is a close second). I wasn’t sure I was going to like Britt-Marie, until I realized about five minutes in that I share a lot of traits with Britt-Marie. I’m still not sold on soccer being better than hockey, but I still loved every bit of her story.
Have you read any of these books? I’d love to hear your thoughts, if you have.
